Lễ khai mạc vào sáng ngày 27/05/2009 tại Nhà thi đấu Quân Khu 7 với sự góp mặt của nguyên Phó chủ tịch nước Trương Mỹ Hoa cùng đại diện các ban ngành đoàn thể, LĐBĐVN, LĐBĐ TPHCM cùng hơn 3.000 em thiếu nhi. Tham dự giải có các đội: Hà Nội, Gia Lai, trường Giáo Dưỡng số 4, Tp.HCM, Đồng Tháp, Cà Mau và 2 đội nước láng giềng là Thái Lan và Campuchia. Sau ba ngày tranh đua sôi nổi, giải kết thúc vào chiều ngày 29/05/2009 với Đội Vô Địch : Đội Gia Lai, Đội hạng nhì: Trường Giáo Dưỡng 4.
